Last updated: January 2025. These terms apply to all bookings made with Mikumi Zanzibar Day Trips / Zanzibar Mikumi Safaris.
A booking is confirmed upon receipt of a deposit payment (for overnight safaris) or full payment (for day trip safaris). Written confirmation is sent by email or WhatsApp following payment. Verbal or WhatsApp booking requests are provisional only until payment is received.
Day Trip Safaris: Full payment required at time of booking or on the morning of departure (cash USD accepted). Overnight Safaris (2+ nights): A deposit of 30% is required to confirm the booking; the remaining balance is due 7 days before departure. Northern Circuit packages (3+ nights): A deposit of 50% is required to confirm flights and accommodation.
We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance that covers safari cancellation.
In the event that extreme weather or other force majeure circumstances (including but not limited to airstrip closures, government restrictions, or natural disasters) prevent the completion of a booked safari, we will offer a full refund or free rescheduling at the client's preference. We will not be liable for any consequential losses (accommodation, flights to Tanzania, etc.).
Light aircraft flights are subject to weather conditions. We use third-party aircraft operators and cannot guarantee exact departure times. In the event of significant flight delay or cancellation, we will offer a full refund or rescheduling. We are not liable for missed connecting flights, accommodation costs, or other consequential losses arising from flight delays.
All light aircraft flights have a strict baggage allowance of 15 kg per person in a soft-sided bag. Hard-shell suitcases are not permitted on aircraft. Excess baggage may be left at your Zanzibar hotel at your own risk. We are not responsible for any damage to or loss of personal belongings.
Clients are responsible for ensuring they are in adequate health to participate in safari activities. Please inform us of any medical conditions, physical limitations, dietary requirements or special needs at the time of booking. We recommend consulting a travel medicine specialist before your trip regarding malaria prophylaxis and other health precautions.
Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. Animals are wild and their behaviour is unpredictable. Clients must follow all guide instructions at all times. Exiting vehicles in the park is strictly prohibited except at designated areas. We are not responsible for any incidents arising from failure to follow guide instructions.
Children under 15 receive a 50% discount on adult prices. Children under 5 travel free. Children of all ages are welcome on our safaris. Parents are responsible for their children's behaviour during game drives.
Photography of wildlife and landscapes is permitted and encouraged. Photography of local people without their consent is discouraged. Photography at government buildings, airports, and certain other locations may be restricted — your guide will advise.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. Any disputes arising from bookings made with Mikumi Zanzibar Day Trips / Zanzibar Mikumi Safaris shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Tanzanian courts.
